An engaging style. A well-rounded descriptive flavor. Deep character development. A pathos rarely probed, the likes of Dostoyevsky. A challenging but respectful approach to religious themes. I highly recommend this book, the best fiction I have read in a long time.

Ya but too much torture. Couldn't contemplate deeper meaning because of the overwhelming aspect of human suffering.
