The Year of the Baby by Anna Cheng

I just love this second instalment of the 'Anna Wang' series.  This edition follows Anna and her friends as they attempt to charm, sing and impress Anna's adopted baby sister-all in effort to help the baby gain needed weight.  Anna also grows in awareness of her Chinese background.  She is grateful and proud of her heritage but is at times frustrated by the stereotypes she encounters in her everyday life.
In simple, heartfelt writing, this educational story shows readers how essential it is to explore issues that are important to you, rather than bending to peer pressure or following the easiest path.  I can't wait to read the next in the series!
