The Angel and the Ring

This book is the first book in the Guardian Angel trilogy. The other books are called The Angel and the Sword and The Angel and the Cross. Sigmund Brouwer also wrote the Mars Diaries and other great Christian books for kids.

"Written" by a guardian angel, this tale is about a boy named Brin. He is a gypsy and an outcast, even in his own clan, because his mother ran away to marry his father who believed in God. Brin's mother was considered a princess in the clan and everyone believes Brin's father stole her away. His mother came back to her clan but died of the Black Plague. Brin is the finest pickpocket in his clan, but he can't keep any of the money he steals. His only position is the ring that his mother gave him right before she died. Then one day, a mysterious man tell Brin to meet him in the middle of the night. Curiosity wins him over and he goes, and gets his whole life turned around...

This is a great book for young readers from ages 8-15, but has one or two fights in it so it might be a bit scary for little one. This book is still very good and answers some questions that lots of children have. It also teaches that you don't always understand God, but you still can trust him.
