Palace of Mirrors

Reviewed by Erika

"I'm the true princess, she is just holding the throne for me until my enemies are vanquished," Cecilia tells herself as she brings the cow home. Little does she know that this will be the last time she does. After a fight with her best friend Harper (no, not Harper from Wizards of Waverly Place! This one is a boy) she takes the cow home by herself. Later that night, her and her "Nanny" find that the "lock" to the door had been cut. Fearing that she is in danger, she flees to Harper's cottage, tells him the truth, and together they start back to Cecilia's cottage to gather supplies so that they can run away to the palace. They arrive to find that her cottage has been ransacked! Her "Nanny" had not been inside so she escaped with her life. They meet her on the trail, and she sends Cecilia to her secret royal tutor's house. Instead of going there, Cecilia and Harper escape to the palace where the meet the other princess who has been told a very different story.

This book is a companion book to the book Just Ella, but you don't have to read that book to understand this one. Margret Peterson Haddix wrote lots of other novels including the Lost series, Among the Hidden series, and many more! Palace of Mirrors is full of adventure, mysteries, romance, hidden tunnels, and exotic birds. Don't wait too long or Cecilia, Harper, and Ella might go on another adventure without you!
